Visions of Heat

Nalini Singh presents book number two of the Psy and the Changeling. Tendency of the author has always remained to present to the audience the stories of the wild which gives a picture of savageness. Through the narration of Angela Dawe we once again listen about Faith NightStar who happens to be a Changeling. He can shift himself into a Jaguar whenever he wants and under normal circumstances he keeps the natural human self and lives among the human beings. There are threats coming to him from all sides and keeping the identity a secret will not help anymore because he has to fight against the rivals at any rate. Nalini describes these conditions of upcoming threats and wars awesomely well.

At every step there is a savage touch to the story and we assume that we are being drifted from the society and are taken into the wild by the author where beats will hunt or haunt us. Hunting or being hunted situation brings to mind Alpha Night and Archangel’s Sun as well so it is the usual trend which the writer likes to follow all the time. Stories are not very interesting for the kids because they cannot enjoy the dangers lurking on the head all the time. Also the thirst which the novel portrays can give the kids a creepy feeling which they don’t usually enjoy. Overall the story is compact and it does not break away from the main theme. If you are expecting moral lessons from such stories than you are making a mistake because such stories are never there to provide a moral of any kind.
