A strong female voice was needed for this series because the main character is a strong girl who is ready to find her true destiny.
Celaena is an eighteen year old girl but she is not like other ordinary girls who are usually scared of taking risks or facing dangers. She is strong and also she is well trained in the art of killing people. However, the girl is under a life sentence and she is not allowed to live her life according to her will.
Then on one occasion, she is caught and she is asked to represent the prince of the land in a competition that could end her life within no time. She was not given the liberty to say no to this proposal but she is given hope i.e if she succeeds then she would be given her freedom back. So the girl lands in the arena and starts fighting the most notorious criminals of the land. Sarah J. Mass makes the character look stronger after every battle but she appears to be falling in love too which could prove to be her weakness in the future.
Queen of Shadows or A Court of Mist and Fury will provide you the true flavor only if you give full time to this book first. A new hero is in the making as the girl is ready to face everything that comes her way this time. One thing is for sure i.e she is not going to lose her freedom now.
