The world has changed a lot in Dave Willmarth’s series, the humans are dependent on an Io Online which they play to earn their livelihood. The game also provides the players, the entertainment which they need in their everyday life. Alexander and his guildmates also depend wholly on this online game for their living. On one occasion they get the chance to enter into a new experimental immersion system that provides them more than their expectations.
The members of the guild enter into this new version in which they had to start from level one but there is more for looting in this new section of the game. What none of the team members was ready for was a group of player killers in this new dimension of the game. They started attacking the players and soon the innocent people also become victims to these powerful creatures
A war starts between the two sides, Alexander and his team is left with no choice except to fight back and level up as quickly as possible. Jeff Hays’ voice takes over in narration after Laurie Catherine Winkel starts the story. Battleborne, Book 2: Wrack and Ruin, and Shadow Sun Survival can also be the primary option if a listener is not ready to start this comparatively long book.
This book proceeds in a stepwise way as in the first step we observe the guild playing the old format of the game and then in the later section the new dimension of the game takes over. There is no stopping once the great war starts and the dead bodies just increase in number at every step.
