The humans started expanding their colonies in outer space and during this expansion, they faced a lot of resistance from other species. The humans were not strong enough to tackle these alien species so the military scientists started working on the making of some super soldiers. These super soldiers were made from the DNA of the dead so they were without weakness of any kind.

Actually, they were made for a special operation that ordinary people knew nothing about. The scientist working on the project was Charles Boutin who suddenly became rogue and left everything incomplete. When the scientist died his memories were transferred into another body named Jared.

This superhuman hybrid had the memories of Charles but he wasn’t able to figure out why Charles went against everything and everyone he used to hold dear. Then slowly the old memories started coming back and it was like unlocking the riddles locked inside the mind for a very long time. The more Jared came to know about the realities, the more he gets alarmed and tries to hide the secrets from everyone.

John Scalzi has knitted this story which is going to turn into a long series later on which is narrated by William Dufris throughout. Take a look at Old Man’s War whenever you have the time or The Collapsing Empire is also not a bad option after all. These books will tell you what the author wants to convey. Just don’t try to skip because nothing is useless in this book. Every sentence has its worth and a special purpose attached to it till the conclusion.
