The Bands of Mourning

Mistborn trilogy brought a lot of fame and fortune for Brandon Sanderson and at the same time, the series brought to the world different characters and legends. Characters and legends which were introduced in the series never existed before in the fantasy world. In this book, the author starts where the Mistborn series ended. The world is the same only difference is that it is fast forward and the book starts three hundred years in the future.

Magic and other myths are forgotten by the people now and the world believes in science and technology. There are proper tracks for the cars and rails also things like electricity is not something unique anymore. Such a situation has lifted the belief of the people on the old legends like the Bands of Mourning.

Bands of Lord Ruler are said to have the powers which the lord governed once and there was a time when the people were in search of the bands and now they think it does not exist. When a researcher finds some images which look exactly like the bands there starts an investigation about the legendary bands once again. Waxillium Ladrian is sent to investigate into the matter and he comes up with something horrible.

Michael Kramer narrates the existence of “The Set” at this point in a fancy way. The secret organization has the passion of ruling the land once again. Book is not in continuation with Words of Radiance and The Way of Kings but the pattern and several of the places have some resemblance. Old fans will love those resemblances because it brings back the old memories.
