Whenever J.D. Robb comes up with a book in this series it gets the attention of the fans within no time. This is the longest series that the author has created in his career and no doubt it is the best of the lot. Du Vin used to be the nightspot that Eve Dallas knew in detail and she thinks that she has not seen any kind of crime happening in this pretty place ever.

This was an unusual thing because people of all kinds used to visit the place but it was nice to have a place in the city where one can relax a bit. Larinda Mars used to come to the place regularly and then one day she ends up dead in the same place.

She was killed with a knife by a person who was visiting the place late at night. Susan Ericksen narrates how Eve Dallas gets surprised when she gets to know that Larinda was keeping a lot of secrets. The woman who was killed was actually blackmailing the men from the upper class for the sake of money. Now it was obvious that one of those men had killed Larinda but the names on the list really alarms Eve Dallas.

Eve has to play with fire once again and there comes a time when she thinks of leaving the case because after all the one who got killed was not an innocent lady. However, the master detective of Encore in Death and Secrets in Death eventually completes the job at the end of the story. Eve shows that no criminal is going to run away on her watch.
