Rift

Rift is a science fiction and fantasy novel. It is the prequel to Nightshade (Cremer) novel series which is written by Andrea Cremer. She was a professor of modern history before turning her career to writing. It was a good move considering the type of science fiction and fantasy novels she writes. One of her very best books is Bloodrose: A Nightshade Novel. Apart from this and the subject novel, Wolfsbane: A Nightshade Novel.

Sile Bermingham has done the narration of this novel. The voice of the narrator is good but it wasn’t probably maximized. This performance turned out to be just above average.

She was capable of fighting the darkness but she could fight love at all.

Ember Morrow was promised at birth to the Conatus’s knights. Her life was traded as promised for the life of her mother. Therefore, when the horsemen came chasing her, right after her 16^th birthday then Ember was not surprised at all by the proceedings. The only thing that surprised her a lot was the magic wielded by the knights. The other surprise was about the demons that they hunt and also about all those feelings that she had for Barrow. He was the most powerful man there whom she served.

When the knights realized the fact that one of them was dabbling in the magic the danger increased. Ember must decide whether she should follow the path towards the darkness or she should escape the order, and subsequently pledge her life for eliminating her fellow knights.

This is an excellent prequel and it will surely develop your interest in the main series. You might be listening to this one again and again as the story and characters are so fascinating.
