Red Mars

The red planet gets the attention of the author and Kim Stanley Robinson has described all of it with so much detail that everyone gets trapped into this world. We have heard about mars from scientists and through research papers but never has anyone given so much time to it. Not even the scientists have been able to describe it with so much clarity and accuracy.
For a moment the listener starts thinking that perhaps the author has originally seen the entire planet on his own. This is the first book of the trilogy in which hundred people from the earth permanently go to Mars. They cover the distance in nine months and when the reach the planet they see it as a land of opportunity.

Some take it as a chance to dominate the rest of the clan, thus a power struggle starts between these small groups of people. Technology of the modern world is another unique thing which decorates the story. The author is not a scientist himself but according to many scientists Kim has portrayed the technology of the future better than a scientist. Green Mars and Blue Mars must be preferred after the completion of this book by the listener.

It is a joyous ride which will excite you and even terrorize you at some points. Richard Ferrone goes with the flow of the story and does not stop anywhere because a pause would have destroyed the intergalactic ride. Story does not swing back and forth and can be considered as a unidirectional thing so it does not need any background for a proper explanation of the theme.
