Ranger’s Apprentice: The Lost Stories

John Flanagan does not start the series from this book rather he goes into the past to dig the old legend for all of us. In the past, the world was surrounded by evil and the defenders of the world were nowhere to be found. Those who wanted to defend their land were not properly trained and equipped. Then there emerged a force known as Araluen warriors who had the capability to fight any kind of evil in the world. These warriors were well trained and they had the habit of keeping an apprentice with them.
The last ones that the people know about were Halt and Will. A halt was the master and Will was his efficient apprentice. Both of them roamed the land and stanched evil right from the neck. From one kingdom to another the two heroes moved like true warriors and whenever the need aroused, it was they who were called by the kings and lords.

Now the people of the present start exploring whether the legend is true or not. If the legend is true then they want to see whether those legendary warriors still come to rescue the innocent or not.

It is clearly visible that John Keating gave a lot of time to Return of the Temujai and The Kings of Clonmel before narrating this one because the narrator had all the things well captured in his fist. He knew where to use the pause and at which spot he should let the story flow. There is not much of a rise and fall in voice because the author didn’t want to lose balance at any place.
