Kate is going down very quickly in this novel and she needs help in many ways. Her husband has left her because of no special reason and she has suddenly become jobless. She was working in a fine way as an editor of a magazine but her boss just fired her without any reason. Now with no place to live and no money in her hands, she decides to go back to the house of her parents, The Nutshell.
She wanted to change the house into a Bed and Breakfast which was apparently a good idea but she didn’t have the money which was completely bad news for her. She needed a job quickly and that’s where Matt comes into the story. Matt offers Kate the job of a spy and all she has to do is to look for the one who has been trying to destroy Matt’s business.
If she remains successful then she will get a reward of twenty thousand dollars which will solve all of her problems within no time. There are a few problems that she has to deal with at first and the first one is that she is a complete stranger in the place. She does not know anyone so spying becomes a lot more difficult in such a scenario.
She is also attracted to her boss and she thinks that she would not be able to control her feelings for a very long time. Moreover, someone wants to get rid of these two before they reach the core of the matter. Janet Evanovich and Dorien Kelly are the teams that created Two for the Dough and One for the Money which is monumental. This love story is also thrilling because of which Lorelei King was appointed as the narrator.
