This is a heavy cast with some big names and they managed to deliver as per their great reputation. In the world known as Hyperion, there waits a weird creature called the Shrike. All this was well beyond the Hegemony of Man law.

In the Time Tombs Valley, some gigantic, brooding structures were moving backward in time. The Shrike was waiting for all of them. On the Armageddon ever, there were seven pilgrims all set on an ultimate voyage to Hyperion while trying to find the answers for the mystery riddles regarding their lives. Each one of them was carrying a terrible secret and a desperate hope. One may have the total fate of mankind in his own hands.

The author is considered to be a literary force. The novel will be a good choice for the newbies and as well as the devoted fans of the author. The world-building by the author is amazing along with the emphatic character-driven storylines. The book went on to win the Locus Award and Hugo Award for the best novel in 1990.
