Firelight

Firelight is a Victorian historical fantasy novel. It is the opening chapter in the Darkest London novel series which is written by Kristen Callihan. She is a RITA Award-winning author. If you want to see the author at her best then The Hot Shot is one superb novel by the author. On top of that, she did a brilliant job with the writing of her Make It Sweet novel. The audio narration of the Firelight novel is done by Moira Quirk. She was pretty decent with her performance but could have been better with the distinctiveness of every character.

The story of this novel is set in the year 1881 in London. Miranda Ellis was a woman distressed. She was plagued with a powerful and strange gift since birth. Moreover, she also spent all of her life struggling to get hold of or control over all of her exceptional abilities. Still, it was only one simple but irreversible mistake that left her fortune of her family decimated. It also forced her to wed the most notorious nobleman in London.

Lord Benjamin was not an ordinary man. He was destined to conceal his blemished face behind the masks. Benjamin knew that it was quiet to have Miranda as his new bride. Still, he just couldn’t help to be drawn to the beauty whose touch triggered passion that he had never felt in his lifetime. When Benjamin was accused of a stint of brutal murders then he gave in to the vicious nature that had fought so much hard to keep it hidden from the rest of the world. But, the curse couldn’t be denied that haunted him for a long time. For saving his soul, Miranda entered into the dark magic world. It was only her who could see the man that was hiding behind that mask.
