Orson Scott Card and Aaron Johnston made quite a name for themselves through their previous hits such as Ender’s Game and Speaker for the Dead. This is not new in theme rather it gives us a background of what has happened before the Ender’s Game. Book takes the listeners hundred years back in the past when there were no training centers and the world of humans was not ready for any invasion from the outer space.

Suddenly the enemy appeared in the orbit and it tried to start a war. The soldiers from the earth stopped the enemy and the invasion never occurred. It was a success but Victor completed the mission with such neatness that no one on earth believed on the story which he told.

He tried to convince the government on earth that there is an eminent threat of more enemy ships. No one believed Victor’s theory and advice of increasing the number of soldiers in space defense program. Then another attack by the enemy took everyone by a surprise. Victor’s point of view was proved true but the government believed the thing after seeing a lot of life loss on the planet and in outer space.

Narrated by Stephen Hoye, Vikas Adam, Emily Rankin and Arthur Morey the book serves as a history book for the fans of the Ender’s Game. It gives us the detail that why the program was actually started of which Ender became a strong member. First attack by the aliens made the people of the earth realize that their defense mechanism was not appropriate against the enemy which is coming soon.
