Dragonsong: Harper Hall Trilogy, Volume 1

Pern has been a special place with all the dragons in it and then is more in the form of strange characters that we meet in every story. Anne McCaffrey adds more and more fantasy in every tale by adding strange dragons and other magical creatures in the stories. Her stories rock the kids who like magical creatures acting.

Menolly is the new girl here whom we see in action. Dragonflight and Dragonquest: Dragonriders of Pern were full of dragons and here the author calls the strange creatures fire lizards. The girl wanted to know more about the musicians of the Harper Hall but her father just rejects her idea of going there. Instead of quitting on her plan she runs away from the house and decides to go to the place herself.

Sadly she does not possess the wings that could carry her to the place. While she sits near the cave, strange creatures’ i.e the fire lizards of Pern appear near her. Menolly becomes sure that her wish has been granted and she is given the chance to fulfill her dream i.e visit the Harper Hall.

But the whole thing is not that much easy apart from riding on the back of a fire lizard. On her way to her destiny, she finds terrible things which scare her but she has decided not to return without fulfilling her destiny. She is going to learn the secrets deep buried in the Harper Hall and she is not returning home empty-handed. The character of this zealous girl is narrated well by Sally Darling; Menolly is a character who does not feel shy in taking risks for the sake of her passion.
