Doomsday Book

It’s a very deep story because it connects multiple things at the same time. There are history lesson present in the book because of time travelling scenario. Then the novel discusses things which join the human beings after which a society is formed. Kivrin is like any other keen student of the university who wants to look at her history lessons in detail. There is no better way of learning history than to go into that era and see everything with your own eyes. Her teacher never liked this going back in time because he knew more about the consequences.

One change in the past can bring catastrophe in the future so the one going back must be very careful i.e not to touch anything, not even a mere glass of water. To Say Nothing of the Dog and All Clear were also by Connie Willis but they never got so much sensational in the later stages. Here when Kivrin is lost in time and her mentor fails to find her, the story gets tricky all of a sudden. They two never wanted to change the future but leaving a whole human being in the past can impact the timeline and thus the future happenings as well. Everything speeds up from here including the narration by Jenny Sterlin. Along with the story the author has done another splendid thing i.e the author has given us about the correct picture of the fourteenth century. All the past happenings and the major characters of the era are there in the novel for the history lovers so that they can relish the story and the flavor of history.
