Rainshadow Island is a place where the mysteries are brought to light and the people finally come to know the reason why those mysteries have been kept buried for so long. There is Alice in the novel as the first primary character. The girl has the ability to make things disappear at will. Also in a magic show, she has proved that she can make herself disappear too whenever she wants. No one has been able to detect her when she disappears except one man who cannot actually see.
The name of the man is Drake and he is day-blind which means that he cannot see during the day but he is the only one who can detect Alice whenever she has disappeared. Drake needs Alice’s help in Rainshadow Island and for this, the two have to tie the wedding knot first of all. Old World crystals are missing from Rainshadow Island and this could bring a catastrophe to the entire world. Thus Drake and Alice have to find those crystals on their honeymoon.
This job brings them close and they find love too which is unexpected. Jayne Castle has used quite a decorative language in this novel and the narrator Joyce Bean narrated it with the same impact. Love is also among the primary themes of this novel so don’t take it as an action packed novel only. The magic is in the air so the couple has to be alert because it is dark magic and not the magic of love.
