Daughter of the Forest

Daughter of the Forest is a science fiction and fantasy novel. This is the first installment in the Sevenwaters novel series which is written by Juliet Marillier. She is a Kiwi author and known for writing fantasy. The majority of her work is based on historical fantasy. Child of the Prophecy and Tower of Thorns are two of her most prominent novels.

The audio narration of this novel is done by Terry Donnelly. The narrator was able to put in the right amount of venom in the performance, especially while voicing for the character of Uncle Richard.

The story in this novel is of Sorcha who is the 7^th child of the Lord Colum of Sevenwaters and was the only daughter as well. She was comforted by her six brothers as she was bereft of a mother. All her brothers loved her a lot and were very protective. But, the joy in the life of Sorcha got shattered where her father got bewitched by his new better-half. She was an evil enchantress and was known for binding all of her brothers with a very terrifying spell. It was a spell that could only be lifted or eliminated by Sorcha and the way to do that was by remaining silent. If she speaks before the right time comes then she would lose all of her brothers for good.

Daughter of the Forest is a wonderful book. You will find some great magic along with twists and turns as well. The writing was very wonderfully done and the narration was enjoyable as well. This is a book that will push you to try out the whole series.
