Creativity, Inc. Audiobook

Creativity brings innovation and with innovation comes money and fame within no time. Ed Catmull describes his journey in the world of creativity. He was a Ph.D. student when he realized what he wanted in his life. He wanted to create animated films which didn’t exist in the world before. Even if there were films in this category,

they weren’t of the best quality at all. Ed founded the Pixar Company with a friend and from there the struggle started which later created thirteen box office hits within two decades. They started the company in 1986 and after a span of working for nine long years, they finally came up with Toy Story which is a hit even in the world of today when there is so much competition.

Ed is of the view that a good team can decorate even the dullest of ideas whereas a bad team can ruin all the good ideas. Also in order to lead, the leader must always be with some kind of idea in his brain. A person without an idea will never be able to lead and succeed. There should be risk-taking in a firm without the fear of failure and if a company is not taking risks then it is going to fail sooner or later.

Then comes the final thing in this book which is narrated by Peter Altschulter i.e the narrator of Titanic: Voices From the Disaster and The Devil’s Chessboard. The author is of the view that the organization should allow people to come up with new ideas rather than telling them all the time what to do. This is the only way to enhance creativity and the progress of the company.
