Two vampire kings separated the territories long ago and since then they have been ruling everything with an iron fist. For the humans in Sweetwater, living with the vampires is not a new thing because they have been living with these creatures of the night since the beginning of time.
There is also a trend in the town i.e after a span of hundred years, these two vampire kings come to the human world the selection a bride. Now the time has come which means that all the young women of the town should be at the ceremony where the new queen will be selected. Every woman in the town wants to be in that place because becoming a queen is an awesome thing. Tanya never wanted to be in that competition because she was a simple girl and not as beautiful as the rest of the women or girls in the town.
The story gets weirder than Dragon Prince when one of the vampire kings selects Tanya as his queen. Tanya thinks that the vampire has made a big mistake and he should try to reconsider his selection. Living with a bloodsucking vampire was never in Tanya’s mind although she likes the appearance of this handsome devil.
Charlene Hartnady has not described the story as a love story at the start rather it is more about lust which makes it a book which is confined to a mature audience only. Later in the story Like Ruin, Tatiana Sokolov narrates the development of love which sparks when the two characters spend time together. It seems that they were actually made for each other.
