Starting in the year 1962 the story moves from the past to the present and the love carries on with it. An innkeeper who used to think a lot and work less in his youth finds a boat coming towards him one night. There was a woman in that boat and she was in a precarious situation. Later he found out that the beautiful woman was actually a movie star.

Then after many decades, the man comes to the movie studio once again and this time he is searching for the woman whom he met that night and fell in love with as well. Thus the love story is revealed to the world after a long span of time and it is told in a way that everyone gets attracted to it. Later more and more characters enter this story written by Jess Walter.

The love remains incomplete for decades but we can see that the elderly Italian man has the same passion even after decades. The time he spent with the woman of her dreams was permanently carved not only on his mind but on his heart as well. Edoardo Ballerini is given the charge to narrate the tale of this strange love for this novel.

As for the author, this was not the first time he was writing such a book. The Angel of Rome and The Cold Millions made many of the fans addicted to the strange characters which the author portrayed. Don’t assume that the story is only about love because it tells a tale that is spread through five decades. The characters evolve in a precise way without any kind of external disturbance.
