A Shiver of Light

So many times, humans think of themselves as superb beings and only in fantasies the authors like Laurell K. Hamilton construct beings who are superior to humans. This concept makes the stories interesting all the time because it deviates from the usual perception of human society. Merry Gentry used to be a private detective in the past and now she has left that job because she has three kids to take care of.

She is still the princess of the faerie land and no one can take that position from her. Although many have tried in the past they have failed big time and they are up to something fishy again thus Merry has to protect her three adorable babies first of all. King of Light and Illusion is coming for her throne and he claims that one of those babies belongs to him.

Merry is not an ordinary being herself so she summons all the dangerous forces there are in the faerie land for the protection of her children. Among them is the king of nightmares, the god of death, and the warrior who is famous for the name Darkness.

We are not talking about romance or the naughty feelings which existed in Crimson Death and Guilty Pleasures. This is a raw war that Charlotte Hill starts narrating and it will end with the death of one of the individuals taking part in it with full force. Merry is not only concerned about her children only, she is also concerned about the people of Los Angeles who are going to die if the war gets out of her control.
