Meredith is going to be the queen very soon and she would be holding her twin babies in her hand too. The only thing she has to do is to keep herself alive because her enemies are creeping up from all sides. Her aunt and cousin think that she is a rival who is going to get the throne away from them.

So they want to throw her out of the way and they are going to make sure that her twin children don’t make it into the world either. Her uncle Taranis who happens to be the King of Light and Illusion thinks that he is the one who has picked Meredith from her house so the credit goes to him by all means.

The guards who are given the duty to protect Meredith also appear to be suspicious so she has to be alert all the time. Her uncle also does not trust the guards anymore because enemies can come in any form and in any shape. Claudia Black i.e the narrator has the raw voice for this series and she has depicted the situation quite well here. Meredith is a strong woman and she trusts no one except herself.

She knows everything which her father taught her and she has the courage to fight her enemies in the same way. Don’t let your mind think that this is the only great book that Laurell K. Hamilton has written. There are many like Jason and Death of a Darklord which are easily available everywhere. These books will tell you what the passion for survival really is and what can a person do for his safety.
