At an early age, it is the company of the family that a child craves more than anything else because the rest of the things are not known to him. The word passion is usually not understood at such an early age because a child wants to be with his mother and father. The main character in this novel, Tarisai also wanted to be with her family so that she can get the love that she desires but this luxury has not been provided to her from a very early age. She knows that she has a mother but the mother seldom visits her and most of the time the visits are quite brief.

Tarisai calls her mother the Lady which is also an odd thing for her but she cannot change the thing. On one occasion her mother comes to her and gives her a task when she wasn’t expecting anything. She asks Tarisai to go to the capital of a big empire and there take part in the competition so that she can win a place in the Council of Eleven.

The Council was for the crown prince which means that the selected members were able to live very close to the prince all the time. It was a job full of honor but the Lady wanted Tarisai to kill the prince when she gets really closer.

Tarisai never thought that she would disobey her mother but this is something she cannot obey so she starts selecting a path of her own. Jordan Ifueko has started a legendary series here and the official narrator selected for the series is Joniece Abbott Pratt.
