Tarana Burke and Brene Brown have not only written this book, they have intentionally narrated it too. The two have been friends for a long time and they were involved in some business together which was linked to wallpaper. When Tarana called Brene one day out of nowhere, Brene thought that Tarana wanted to talk something about business but that was not the case.
Tarana was very serious in her tone because she wanted to discuss something serious with her friend. Brene didn’t hesitate to take the discussion to a serious level because she very quickly understood that her friend was talking about a valid point. Suddenly the two women found themselves talking about vulnerability linked to a black woman in society.
The two talk quite strongly on the point that black women are not physically and emotionally safe in the country. Though there are laws that are apparently there the original behavior of most people has not changed since the beginning. Thus a discussion is needed in that perspective so that black women are able to discuss their problems in an open way.
The audience can get some more sense of the matter through Unbound which is also by the same author. These books are written in a conversational style because a discussion is going on and it is not a story that the author is conveying to us. The matter is discussed to the core and the two authors have advocated their points of view quite well here. Such issues need to be eradicated so that black women can finally feel free.
