Wool Omnibus Edition (Wool 1 – 5) is a science fiction and fantasy book. It is the first chapter of The Silo Saga which is written by Hugh Howey. He is an American author who writes prolific science fiction novels. The Silo Saga is his best series which was published through Amazon independently. It will be safe, rather an exciting endeavor to try out more work of Hugh Howey and Wool is one such novel to be attempted. Shift Omnibus Edition is another good one from the author.
The audio narration of this novel is done by Minnie Goode. It was a rigid and monotonous vocal performance that was not able to bring out the true essence of the characters. This book holds the story of mankind trying hard for survival. This is a story having mankind on the edge. The outside world has grown extremely cruel and quite unkind. It has a very limited view now. The talk of it is forbidden.
But then there are also those in the mankind who talk about some home and those who dream as well. These are the dangerous kind of people. These are the residents who infect others with their optimism. The punishment for them is straightforward. They are provided with the stuff which they profess to want. They are the ones who are allowed outside.
There was nothing wrong with the story or the characters. Rather, that was quite good and solid. The only issue is with the narration which was quite annoying as the same voice was used for all characters and the expression was too weak. For the content and characters of this novel, it is recommended.
