For a long time, the series discussed everything about Celaena, and this time Sarah J. Maas starts describing a few things about Chaol. Chaol was introduced in the previous part for the first time and now he goes on a campaign of his own. The narration is tackled by Elizabeth Evans again because she is the expert of the entire drama. Chaol used to be the captain of the Guard in the past and he was bound to serve the king but that is not the case now.
He has grief in his heart because many men died during his command and he thinks that he was the reason behind the entire thing. He was deceiving the throne and just when the king had a chance to kill him, Chaol’s life was spared. Now he is not the same man anymore rather he is broken physically and mentally.
