The Wright Brothers Audiobook
David McCullough writes and narrates another important portion of history that many haven’t heard in detail. Wilbur and Orville Wright are the two most famous names in the history of mankind but we don’t know a lot about these two brothers. The only thing which we know about them is the fact that these two invented the first airplane that was able to carry a pilot with it. Their mother died when the two brothers were quite young that’s why they never received the full love of their mother.
However, their father was a nice preacher and there was enough to read in the house that the two brothers learned all the basic things about science and philosophy from their house. They had a shop in which they started repairing bicycles at first. It provided them ample money to spend on their experimentations. Their experiments didn’t get success at once so they had to work hard after a number of failures.
The government was not helping them at all because no one was ready to believe in the thing. At one stage there came a time when one of these brothers got severely injured during a test flight. He was almost killed in the process but was saved and it was his sister that took care of him during this time.
History has not talked about the sister of the Wright brothers very much but she was there with her brothers on every occasion. This book is not talking about history as far as 1776 so the tone used by the author is not the same. Style of writing can be compared with John Adams but the story is a chapter from history and the story has its own independent taste.
