The Tattooist of Auschwitz is a World War II-related fiction novel. It is written by Heather Morris. She is the number one bestselling author in New York Times. Among her most prominent novels, you will find Cilka’s Journey as one of them. Another significant book from the author is Three Sisters.

The audio narration of The Tattooist of Auschwitz is done by Richard Armitage. He was simply superb with his narration for the book and the audience enjoyed it.

Lale Sokolov was a Slovakian Jew and in April 1942, he was transported forcibly to Auschwitz-Birkenau in the concentration camps. When his captors found out that he was capable of speaking different languages then he was made to work as a tattooist. His given task was to mark his fellow prisoners permanently. He remained imprisoned for nearly two and a half years and during this time, he witnessed horrific barbarism and atrocities.

At the same time, he was also a witness to some acts of compassion, kindness, and bravery. He risked his own life and then made use of his privileged position to exchange some jewels and money as well from the murdered Jews. That was all meant for food and to ensure that his fellow prisoners stay alive.

On one day July in 1942, prisoner #32407 comforted a shuddering young woman to have the #34902 to be engraved on her arm. Her name was Gita and that was Lale’s first encounter with her. He vowed to survive at a tat concentration camp and after that, marry her.

The author was brave enough to take on a very dark time in history, and yet she shared a story of hope, joy, and love which the people will definitely like.
