The Shining is a supernatural fiction novel which is penned by the legendary author of horror/ supernatural fiction, Stephen King. It is the novel of the author which got a lot of fame and a movie was also made based on its story. The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon is another good book by Stephen King that deserves your attention.
The audio narration of The Shining is done by Campbell Scott. His monotonous voice used in the novel failed to impress the listeners.
The story of The Shining started with the mention of the character of Jack Torrance. He just got a new job which was at the Overlook Hotel. He took that as a great opportunity to have a fresh start in both his life and career. He was the off-season caretaker of that old, atmospheric hotel. In that capacity, he was having a lot of time to easily connect with his family and also spend some of the time with his writing. But just when the harsh winter peaked that idyllic location looked to be far more remote. And, it seemed to be quite sinister as well. The only one to take note of some terrible and strange things happening there was Danny Torrance. He was the five years old son of Jack Torrance and was believed to be uniquely gifted as well.
Everything is good about this audiobook, except the performer of it was lackluster. Although he paced it well the monotonous voice made it a difficult listen. This book is a classic of contemporary American horror which comes from the master of horror and supernatural fiction, Stephen King.
