The Ruin

A small town full of disasters is usually not found in stories. One or two might have been enough but Dervla McTiernan has loaded the story with tragedies. Cormac Riley is the main detective in the town and he is given all the cases which seem to be unsolvable by the police. Twenty years ago the police found the dead body of Hilaria Blake and surely it was a terrible sight to see. The police thought that the case was not that complex as it was apparently a suicide.
The woman didn’t show any concern for her two lovely children before committing suicide as she left no note for them. Perhaps she was so much busy in her own thoughts that she never thought that she had the burden of two little children to carry as well. Aoife McMahon has not tried to narrate all the characters in haste rather the narrator has treated one at a time with proper care.

Aisling is the next character who appears on the scene and she faces a tragedy when her boyfriend is also found dead and once again the case is said to be a suicide. This time Maude comes on the scene and she is sure that her brother has been murdered.

Cormac is asked to reopen an old case and when she opens the old case, things become really tricky for her. The Murder Rule and The Wrong One can prove a nice addition to your collection. These books are full of cold murders in which the killer is not apparent also the motive is difficult to understand as long as you have not gone through the entire story.
