Locke along with Jean, his trusted partner has hardly managed to escape with their lives. In another scenario, Kean might just have. However, Locke was succumbing quite slowly to a lethal poison that no physical or alchemist could cure. Just as the end was near then a highly enigmatic Bondsmage offered a grand opportunity to Locke. It was a kind of an opportunity that could save him or maybe finish him once and for all.
The political elections of Magi were imminent and there was a need for a pawn by the factions. If Locke was willing to play his role then sorcery could just be used for the sake of purging all of the venoms that were in his body. However, the required process was believed to be quite excruciating and he might just wish that death would be a much better option. Locke faced strong opposition but there were a couple of factors that could lead his will to crumble.
The story is lovely and so are its characters. The narration is also up to the mark. In short, this novel is a complete package and you can try it without any second thoughts.
