The Magicians is a fantasy fiction book. It is the first chapter in The Magicians novel series which is authored by Lev Grossman. He is a journalist and novelist from the USA and known for his The Magicians Trilogy. The Magician King and The Magician’s Land are the other two extremely exciting chapters from The Magician’s trilogy.
The audio narration of The Magicians is done by Mark Bramhall. His accent was quite decent but the tone for the different characters sounded wrong and didn’t go well with their personalities.
Quentin Coldwater was quite miserable but brilliant as well. He was a senior in high school and was secretly preoccupied with several fantasy novels that he read during his early childhood days. Those were set in the fantasy world with the name of Fillory. Just think about the level of his surprise when he discovered himself admitting to a secret unexpectedly. It was about an exclusive college of magic which was in the upstate New York region. He received rigorous and thorough education there in the domain of modern sorcery.
He also discovered many of the other things which different people learn in college. Those things were friendship, love, sex, boredom, and alcohol consumption. But there was still something missing there. The magic doesn’t manage to bring the adventure and happiness to Quentin that he thought it would. After completing his graduation, he along with his friends made an incredible discovery – The Fillory was all real. All of his childhood dreams became a nightmare with the revelation of a shocking truth.
The story of The Magicians is reasonably good and the characters were strongly written and developed as well. However, the narration was slightly lacking and this is something that took away quite a bit from all the excitement of this novel.
