This is not the first part of the series which is written by the master writer, Rick Yancey. The series started from The 5th Wave and here it comes to the next step at once. The first four waves are gone now and this is the time for the 5th Wave with which the human race will end for sure.
The Others wanted to have complete control of the planet which is governed by humans. Instead of fighting with the humans, the Others came up with a different plan i.e they started snatching humanity from the human race and so far they have succeeded in doing so.
Cassie and her friends, Ben and Ringer are not in the same world anymore because the world they used to live in has disappeared because of the Waves and this time it is complete annihilation which they are expecting. Cassie knows what is coming and she is not going down without a fight because she wants to make sure that she struggles for the sake of mankind till the last breadth. The battle is on as Phoebe Strole and Ben Yannette narrate the second part of the series which is going to be epic at the conclusion.
The author has The Last Star in the arsenal too so one can select from these magical books and the listener will get a joyous ride for sure. There is no ending to the struggle as long as the humans are alive and the humans have their best men on the job. The Others have selected the wrong race to mess with and they are going to pay for it.
