The Giver Audiobook
A new world is in the making and the characters are going to be given different tasks which they have to deal with throughout their life. The last month of the year is approaching and at the annual ceremony the kids who turn twelve are given their tasks or in a nutshell, their fate gets decided permanently.
They cannot change their work after that because it is a selection which is made by the Elders and no one can question their decision making. Jonas was one of those who was waiting anxiously for the time when he would be assigned a duty by the Elders. Fiona became the caretaker of the old people and another friend was given the duties of recreation. Jonas thought that he would also get some task of that kind but that was not the case at all.
The boy was sent to a mysterious man whom he hadn’t seen before. The man has no name and people only know him as the Giver. Jonas has to stay with him after the election because he is going to assist the Giver. No one can tell him about the task that Giver performs so it is a secret that he has to find out on his own.
Zooman Sam is scary in a different sense and this book is scary because it has mystery in it. Lois Lowry has selected odd themes on most of the occasions, we can take the example of The Willoughbys for this thing. It does not mean that the author has not been able to do justice to the themes. Every theme has been described strongly and with full passion. The author Lois Lowry and narrator Ron Rifkin have worked together to make us believe that everything is really happening.
