Special Agent John Puller is not the one who can be ignored or side lined because he is the best in the business. He has saved a number of lives during his career and his department goes to him whenever help is needed regarding special and tough cases. For a long time we have seen this top quality agent working for the department only and this time the mission is personal.
He has lost his aunt and when someone makes trouble for Puller’s family then there is a price to pay. His aunt was staying in Paradise in Florida when she died and the police department thinks that the death is the result of an accident. The police have closed the case and there is no further investigation on the case.
Puller on the other hand is sure that it is murder because his aunt sent an email to Puller’s father before her death and in that email, the lady told her brother that there is something seriously wrong in Paradise. The place is hiding a lot of things and the appearance is only set for deception. Puller thinks that his aunt was killed by those who wanted to hide everything from the rest of the world. David Baldacci sends his main character on a personal mission this time and he is going to make the villains pay.
Ron McLarty and Orlagh Cassidy are the narrators who garnished Memory Man and Long Shadows with their voices. These two narrators form a very good pair together and their voices are suitable for such stories which have suspense in them. This is a murder mystery but there are other crimes in the novel as well which get unveiled later on.
