The Fifth Season is the first installment in The Broken Earth novel series. This fiction novel is written by N. K. Jemisin. She is a decent writer of science fiction and fantasy novels from the USA. The Obelisk Gate novel by the author is quite wonderful and it deserved to listen to in audio. The same could also be said about The Stone Sky novel of the author.
The tonal quality of Robin Miles is good as the narrator. However, you will find the vocal range of the narrator a bit limited as at times you wouldn’t be able to differentiate between some characters who are speaking.
A woman at the end of the world must conceal her secret power and should find her abducted daughter in this story of oppression, power, and revolution.
This is particularly how the world would end… for the very last time.
It all started with a greater red rift that was felt right across the core of the sole content of the world. It spewed ash which stained the sun even. Then it all started with death and with having a murdered son and an abducted daughter. It started then with betrayal and the long resting wounds would be rising to fester. This is all about the Stillness. It was a land that was long familiar with the catastrophe and also where the power of the Earth was wielded just like a weapon. It was also a place where there was no mercy.
The best part of this book is its story and the performance was just average. Overall, this is a 4/5 rating audiobook. The book also won the Hugo Award as people just loved its intense storyline.
