“Highlander” series started with a few characters, later Karen Marie Moning continued adding more and more into the story. Sexual appeal or a craze for sex has always been there in the characters but in the later stages the whole drama changes as the characters try to move towards purity. Relations of lust change into love and some time the characters emerge as true heroes who can even sacrifice for those they just needed for physical pleasures.
Dageus MacKeltar has a very tragic tale to tell to the entire audience in the fifth part. Phil Gigante narrates the character of a man who is good from the inside but the problem with him is taking him down to the dungeons of hell slowly. His soul is trapped in thirteen Druids and in order to be one single unit again he has to fight with all of them.
The man needs serious help as all the allies he once had have died now. Story comes to the era of Chole Zanders who gets connected with Dageus so strongly that she is willing to go to any limits for it. The girl travels back in time to fight against the thirteen demons that have captured the soul of the man she loves very much. Kingdom of Shadow and Light and Darkfever had the role of both characters in balance but this time the author allows the girl to dominate.
It does not mean that Dageus’ role is completely ignored but he is not as intense in feeling as Chole. The man is actually sacrificing nothing because he has nothing to lose; the girl on the other hand puts her life on the line for Dageus.
