The king gives an order to Scottish laird Alec Kincaid to marry an English woman for the sake of political gains. The strong lad agreed on the thing and he selected Jamie who happens to be the youngest daughter of a baron. Jamie never thought that she would one day be forced to marry a man whom she dislikes.
She didn’t like the barbarians at all because she thought that they would never be able to become a good husband for a decent lady. The warriors were savage in their behavior and even when they looked attractive from the outside, they weren’t able to impress the women of the upper class. However, Alec wanted to have Jamie as his wife because he wanted to have her in his possession at any rate.
Alec was obsessed with Jamie’s beauty but she was not ready to show any kind of attraction toward him. Although her body was not in her control anymore she decided to resist as long as possible. Julie Garwood has not described the two characters with opposite natures here rather their culture and way of living are different.
Rosalyn Landor at first narrates everything in a strict tone because the narrator wanted to convey the arrogance of the two lovers. Then a single incident brings both of them close to each other and they think that moving away might not be a good idea at all. With Shadow Music and Wired under her name, the author has become more confident in writing this kind of story. The Scottish warriors have always impressed the author so she has written a lot about them.
