Will Damron and Angela Dawe are the kind of narrators who don’t narrate a large number of stories. They are of the kind who give time to special books with a lot of creativity involved. So finding their name on the top cover of this book written by Sofia Segovia shows that the book is not of the ordinary type at all. It will make you feel the quality of The Murmur of Bees once again.
Like all the youngsters, Ilse was looking for a pleasant and placid life. She thought that she will complete her school education in a good manner after which she would be going to high school really quick but fate had other plans for her. War started on the land and everything changed abruptly for the young girl.
The forces from both sides gathered on the borders and there was no ending to the war which was coming to the land. Ilse runs away from the Soviet army so that she can save her life. She was sure that she would not be able to have the future that she once dreamed of but the stories of Janusz were ample to infuse a positive spirit in her.
The boy was a Polish laborer and his mind was loaded with the folktales that could keep them positive under extreme weather. The boy tells Ilse about the amber tears of a queen who used to live on the land once. The story attracts the attention of the audience too because it is somehow related to the condition of Ilse as well. These two stories go side and by side and it really develops our interest in the thing.
