Merry was surely not happy with her life at all. Being a Highlander was not fun for a woman because she was living among men who were barbarians. Her brothers were always engaged in some crazy stuff which would make her feel that she is not fit in that place. Their house was also a mess and she was the only woman who was keeping things together.
If she would not have been there then their house might appear to be the house of a caveman. She betrothed, Alexander was coming for the marriage very soon and she thought that she would be lucky to move out of the highlands. Although she hadn’t seen her husband in her life she had high hopes and she was expecting that he would be a pure gentleman.
When Merry met Alexander, she was surprised because he was just like her brothers in appearance. Alexander on the other hand wanted to prove to his lovely bride that he was a true gentleman at heart. When the danger struck and Alexander rose to save his bride, Merry felt that he was surely the kind of man she was waiting for.
Lynsay Sands takes us to the highlands once again, the author did the same in The Highlander Takes a Bride and An English Bride in Scotland. Perhaps the author likes this type of scenario and no doubt the setting is excellently portrayed in all the books and the narrator Marianna Palka has also played the role very well. The love between the two highlanders really thrives in this portion of the series and they finally realize that they are made for each other.
