Stone of Tears

Richard became a hero all of a sudden and beyond his own expectations. He was living an ordinary life when he was chosen for the uphill task i.e to free the world from a disastrous plague. Kahlan has been with him for years and all she wanted was Richard’s love. A harsh time has passed now and she thinks she can finally have the love of the man she desires.

Then the day finally comes when Richard shows his love for her but the day passed sooner than she expected. Soon the magical powers try to take Richard away from her and the girl is not ready to leave her love at any cost. She though never wanted to hurt Richard but in order to stop him from going on the strange path she puts chains around him. Terry Goodkind writes about the condition of these two lovers at this stage quite tragically.

Both want to be with one another but for the time being they had to leave their love aside. War also starts on the land and Kahlan gets confused that whether she should pay attention on her personal life or think about the people of the land first. Next two books in the series Temple of the Winds and Blood of the Fold don’t talk about love in so much detail.

Even if love is there in the chapters it is not so intense, at this point the process of chaining Richard really makes Kahlan cry. She never wanted to do that to her love but she is forced under the circumstances. Jim Bond narrates those feelings through a sobbing voice which proves to be heart touching.
