Song of the Forever Rains is the first book of The Mousai novel series. This romance novel is written by E.J. Mellow. The author is a new but good name in writing romance and fantasy story books. If you have time and space in your reading list then do add Dance of a Burning Sea novel of Mellow into it.
The audio narration of Song of the Forever Rains is done by Madeline Lake and Nelson Hobbs. The male narrator was good but the female narrator was slightly too hard for the liking with a monotonous tone.
The Thief Kingdom place was somewhere hidden deep within the Aadilor world. There were plenty of whispers of its existence but only a few were successful to find this place. It was a place where pleasure and magic were known to abound. The mysterious Thief King there reigned supreme with all the support of the Mousai. It was a trio of the most feared and revered sorceresses.
Larkyra was the youngest of all the three Mousai. But her singing had the surprising power that could easily slay the monsters. When it was found that the Duke of Lachlan was siphoning a poisonous drug that came from the Thief Kingdom and the same was used for abusing his tenants. Larkyra was offered her first ever solo mission and that was to restrict the duke. She was eager to prove herself and for that reason, she accepted to pose as the potential bride of the duke.
The story is intriguing and you will feel a deep connection with the characters right from the start. The narration as a whole was above average and all of this will make it a good, enjoyable listen.
