Shadow of Night picks up right after the cliff-hanging ending of A Discovery of Witches. The story this time started by taking the vampire geneticist Matthew Clairmont and Diana Bishop, the reluctant witch on a journey leading through time. That trip took them to Elizabeth London where they all were plunged deep into the world of magic, spies, and a coterie of old friends of Matthew, in the School of Night.
As the search deepened for the Ashmole 782, the enchanted and lost manuscript whose mystery pulled Matthew and Diana into the orbit of each other, Diana looked for a witch to teach her magic. That was also the time when the net of their past life of Matthew started to tighten up all around him. They both discovered together that they both should look to embark on a completely different and immensely dangerous new journey where the stakes will be high.
Shadow of Night is a romantic and captivating story. This is the book that confirms Deborah as an excellent storyteller with the great potential to produce an addictive story of mayhem, magic, and love.
