All of us know one thing quite clearly up to this stage Anita Blake is a vampire hunter but she is drifting slowly toward the other side. There was a time at the start of the series when she was on the side of the humans and she still cares for them and at the same time she is settling her roots in the vampire world too.
She is fighting the bad vampires only and she has realized that not all vampires are bad. Laurell K. Hamilton has managed to mold the series quite successfully and we are listening less about the human world now.
Wereleopards Micah and Nathaniel are at a wedding party with Anita and she thinks that they can finally get some time to relax and enjoy. However this is not the case here, an ancient evil has awoken and Anita has no idea how to deal with this newly emerging danger. This evil can turn human bodies into snakes so the humans visiting the wedding are in great danger.
When the humans start disappearing quickly, Anita decides to act fast because her friends are being blamed for everything and she does not want this to happen. Certainly, there is more to it than Smolder and Guilty Pleasures for vampire lovers. The humans are in trouble and the vampires are being blamed. It is up to Anita to save the humans and to clear the name of the vampires from the list of evildoers. If she manages to destroy the nexus of the curse on this occasion then she will finally be able to call herself a savior.
