Roland was never made to love any girl although there were several who wanted to be with him for a lifetime. The reality was simple i.e there was no one in the town who had the personality to steal the heart of this individual. He was sharp like a razor blade and then the quick tongue was there to play the magic to a totally different angle.
Catherine Coulter is the author of this series so like in old times, there is much attention that has been given to the characterization rather than the depiction of the scenery. The author thinks that if the characters are strong then there is not much need to paint the scenes in detail. People are generally not interested in the scenes rather they want to move on with the characters in the story.
When Roland’s introduction gets completed then the character of Daria is added to the show. She is equally sharp as Roland and she happens to be in need of help. No one seems to be ready to help her because the danger in she is present at the beginning is not easy to handle. When Roland saves her life, he realizes that she was the kind of woman he was looking for in his life.
Narrator Anne Flosnik is usually good with the narration of female characters but here a lot of effort has been put into the narration of the male characters as well. The Wyndham Legacy: Legacy, Book 1, and Reckoning are famous too and only those who are interested in love stories would be able to understand everything in a better way.
