Being a speechwriter was a wonderful job for Becca because in this way she was close to the governor all the time and her job was quite secure. She had been doing this thing for a long time now and she thinks that she is an expert in the thing. It was just a phone call one day that started the disturbance all of a sudden. On the phone call, there was a man who asked Becca to stop sleeping with the governor and he told her that he was her boyfriend.
Becca wasn’t sleeping with the governor and she didn’t have a boyfriend either who would be with such a killer extinct. At first, she does not pay attention to the thing and then the calls just keep on coming with the same message. One day the governor gets shot and along with him, another innocent life was taken. Becca knows somehow that she was the other target but she got saved because of mere luck.
The police think that Becca knows more than she is telling them and she knows that her stalker is still looking for her. Help reaches Becca just like it did for the characters in The Wyndham Legacy: Legacy, Book 1 in the form of skilled agents. Savich and Sherlock were in the area for some personal tasks and they think that Becca’s case is a serious one.
So they take on the case and the three characters start looking for the mysterious killer. Catherine Coulter stunned many through The Cove and here it is proved that this comes quite naturally to the author. The flow in the narration which is created by Laural Merlington is proved to be of great use in the understanding of the story.
