Jane Yellowrock gets the task completed right on time all the time and this is the main cause of her fame in the world of humans and vampires. Whenever a hunter or a bodyguard is needed in a world that has become overcrowded with supernatural creatures, it is Jane whom everyone likes to connect with. The vampires of Asheville are thinking of creating their own clan but they cannot do such a thing on their own because the Master Vampire of New Orleans is there to keep an eye on their every move.
So they have to talk to him first before taking a step further in their new plan. The Master Vampire hires Jane to solve this matter in a better way. Jane starts her mission and soon she learns that the local campers have been killed by creatures that are rumored to have fangs. Jane does not know whether it was the doing of vampires or witches but she has to investigate fast because this could damage her mission.
The author of the series, Faith Hunter, puts Jane in a task with multiple issues once again as there were in Final Heir. For this purpose, Khristine Hvam had to adjust the narration according to the characters on many occasions. This was not needed in Skinwalker because that story was with a single task.
Here multiple issues join together in the end and get transformed into one big mission which Jane has to solve quickly or the Master Vampire will get really angry with her. She does not want that to happen and there is also another thing that she does not want to see is the loss of precious lives.
