Predictably Irrational Audiobook

It is not just a good book rather it is the book that every person should have in the house in this modern era. In this modern era, things are changing very quickly and we think that we have full control of our surroundings but that is not the case at all. Apparently, we have control over our thoughts and emotions but that is not the case in reality.

Dan Ariely happens to be a behavioral economist and he has a habit of keeping an eye on the people walking in society. He is of the view that when we are thinking that we are behaving rationally, actually it is the other way around. Society and media are basically controlling or governing our minds that’s why we feel good when we buy an expensive item whether it is medicine or shoes.

Our mind is channelized by different forces that are influencing us all the time. The author even takes the help of the 10 Commandments in order to explain his point of view. Ariely tells us how we stop telling a lie when we think about a religious thing like the Commandments. No one is keeping an eye on us but unseen forces are playing a trick on our minds. Thus Simon Jones narrates how these forces start taking over our minds and we are unaware of it.
We pay more than double for coffee these days as compared to the past because it is trending these days. Dollars and Sense also told us not to spend money on things that are not needed. Sometimes we can get the same thing at a low price but we pay extra for it and then gain satisfaction. Payoff depicts the same behavior too so the author wants us to understand that we are not taking decisions independently in our life anymore.
