No Rest for the Dead is a collection of short mystery stories. The introduction of this book is given by David Baldacci who is a maestro of mystery thriller novels. The other authors included in this venture are Laurie H. Armstrong, Jeffrey Deaver, Sandra Brown, Robert Dugoni, J. A. Jance, and Brian Gruley.
The audio narration of the book is done by James Colby, Carol Monda, and Richard Ferrone. The narration was just about okay. The experience of having different narrators for each chapter was not that great as it breaks continuity and the listeners find it hard to develop a connection with the characters and the story.
Christopher Thomas was a ruthless curator working at the McFall Art Museum in San Francisco. He was killed and his decaying dead body was recovered from an iron maiden which was in a museum in Berlin. Rosemary, his wife became the prime suspect in the case. She was arrested, tried, convicted, and then executed as well. A decade later, Detective Jon Nunn who cracked that case was convinced that Rosemary was the wrong person to put to death. Jon discovered a web of betrayal and deceit since the time that case was closed.
It surrounded Thomases and that had the potential to implicate a good number of people in the crime. With all the support of the friend of the dead woman, he planned to muster everyone close to Christopher on the night he died, so that the truth could be uncovered. Solving this complicated case might be the last chance for Jon to redeem. But the shadowy forces were still at work and would not stop at anything for silencing the past for good.
