Nemesis is the 13th chapter of The Horus Heresy novel series. It is a science fiction novel which is written by James Swallow. He is the #1 bestselling British author in The New York Times, Sunday Times, and Amazon. He has also been a BAFTA Nominee. Angels of Darkness and Blood and Star Trek: Book 2: The Ashes of Tomorrow are two of his best novels.
The audio narration of this novel is done by Jonathan Keeble. It was a challenging job with a multitude of characters in this story. He did an outstanding job narrating this book. After all the horrors of Istvaan V, Horus avowed out-and-out war against the Imperium. Many of the powerful figures convened right beneath the shadows of the Emperor’s Palace.
The plan there was to deploy a strong team of assassins for the execution of Horus, the arch-traitor. The agenda was to end the war for the galaxy of humanity, which should ideally be done well before it even started. But, one thing which they don’t know is that one more assassin was already aboard. He was the one who had his sights decisively set on the assassination of the Emperor.
The story is interesting but somehow hard to process due to its complexity. If one book from The Horus Heresy novel series can be skipped then it is this one. Apart from complexity with many characters involved, the book had a good chunk of fluff too. You might get lost in the middle of this story and wouldn’t feel like finishing it at all. It is not one of the better ones from James Swallow and neither from the subject series.
